ESPN2 to show Twin Falls ax thrower’s win
Magic Valley residents and folks worldwide can watch Twin Falls ax thrower Tasia Cobbs at 7 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2 in a taped broadcast of the World Axe Throwing League Pro-Am Tournament.
Cobbs, who trains out of Twin Blades Rage N Axe, won the Pro-Am Tournament in Appleton, Wisconsin, in early November
She won first in the Pabst Blue Ribbon “6 Pack” event with Kyle Rickenbaugh and Mike Kump.
Cobbs told the Times-News she will be the first woman to compete in ax throwing on ESPN.
“I am so proud to represent the Magic Valley at this event!” Cobbs told the Times-News.
Cobbs competed in the first televised all-women’s ax throwing final at the Far-Thro Axe Throwing Tournament in July in Fargo, North Dakota.

CSI men’s soccer adds Gooding’s Gonzalez
Gooding High School graduate Andrew Gonzalez has signed to play men’s soccer at the College of Southern Idaho, the school announced in a news release on Wednesday.
Gonzalez becomes CSI’s second announced signing, joining Wendell’s Eduardo Nieves. The Golden Eagles will begin play in fall 2024 in Jerome.

Gonzalez graduated from GHS in 2023 and attends CSI. He became a four-time All-High Desert Conference selection and helped the Senators to fourth at the 2020 3A state tournament.
Gonzalez also played on the Magic Valley Surf club team.
“Andrew is a classic style winger who takes on his direct opponent 1v1 and can create game changing plays,” said CSI head coach Alex Ferreira in the release. “He is a good young man that is going to contribute positively to the overall environment on the training ground and in the locker room.”
CSI softball adds Emmett utility player
Emmett’s Harper Goodwin signed with CSI softball, the school announced Wednesday via news release.
Goodwin becomes CSI’s ninth signing in the 2024 class. She helped Emmett to third at the 2023 4A state tournament and hit .366 with 20 RBI. She added four home runs and 10 doubles.
“Harper gives us options positionally,” said CSI head coach Nick Baumert in the release. “She can play infield or outfield and is a solid hitter at the plate. We are excited to see what she can do.”
Goodwin received all-conference honors as an infielder in 2023.
CSI basketball to host holiday camp
Looking for something for you or your child to do during Christmas break?
CSI men’s and women’s basketball will host a Christmas Break Basketball Camp on Dec. 27-29 from 8 a.m. to noon each day.
This camp is for first through eighth graders and costs $90 ($30 per day).
