TWIN FALLS — Britton Berrett’s first shot started a trend.
Another. And another.
Soon, Berrett achieved a real-life version of the NBA 2K takeover badge — a barrage of 3-pointers and single-handedly in charge of College of Southern Idaho’s lead.
Berrett’s shooting and a plethora of highlight-reel dunks from the big men, powered CSI to a 104-72 defeat of Eastern Wyoming College on Saturday night at the CSI Gymnasium.
Berrett recorded a career-high 21 points, all from his 7-of-11 3-point performance. He scored CSI’s first 12 points within four minutes.
“I was feeling it to start the game,” Berrett told the Times-News. “Hit some early and my teammates were finding me.”
Berrett, a sophomore from Rigby, said he had not shot seven 3-pointers in a game since high school.

Three of Berrett’s first four originated on assists from Asim Jones.
“We have great downhill drivers in Asim (Jones) and Jaylon (Johnson) to start the game so that relieves some pressure from me because defenses collapse and I’m able to be open,” Berrett said.
Berrett added six rebounds.
Jones earned a double-double of 14 points and 11 assists. That marks an assist career-high for Jones and he earned double-digit scoring in each of his performances this season.
Jordan Hamilton emerged from the bench and scored 17 points.
“He (Hamilton) is still not 100% but he is getting there,” Golden Eagles coach Jeff Reinert told the Times-News. “He is a valuable piece of what we are doing.”
Reinert said Hamilton is still dealing with an Achilles issue.
Walker Timme added 11 points and eight rebounds. Shahid Muhammad bolstered CSI with 13 points and five rebounds.
Makhiah Tarver powered the Lancers with 24 points while Jules Teboul registered a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.
CSI missed Cassius Carmichael and Kasen Carpenter with injuries.
“The break could not come at a better time for them,” Reinert said. “We will get healthy and back at it.”
The Golden Eagles (10-5 overall), who Reinert said is “at a seven and a half, eight” on the team’s level of performance, will break for semester and host Treasure Valley Community College at 7 p.m. Jan. 2.
“What a great end to the semester,” he said. “These kids have worked so hard. Put in a lot of work to be where we are right now.”
