Kasey Teske, the Principal of the Year for Idaho in 2017, is out of a job at Canyon Ridge High School.
The Twin Falls School District announced a change in CRHS’ administrative leadership in a Monday afternoon email to families, writing that Teske “will no longer be working” at the school, where he had been top administrator since 2013. Vice Principal Scott Thompson will serve as acting principal, according to the district.
“Because this is a personnel matter, there is limited information we can provide regarding the reason behind this change,” the district wrote in its message to families. “We do not anticipate that the change will affect the day-to-day operations at CRHS. While an abrupt change may raise concern, we assure you that all CRHS staff members are committed to maintaining a professional learning environment and will continue to put our students’ academic success at the forefront of everything we do. “

Teske remains employed by the district in an administrative capacity, the district told the Times-News in response to a series of questions via email.
Teske’s departure from Canyon Ridge comes less than two weeks after multiple players left the Riverhawks’ varsity volleyball team. Asked if there was any connection between the administrative change and the volleyball situation, the district declined to answer, citing state law.
“Any information related to reasons behind changes in personnel assignments is protected under the Idaho Public Records Act as part of the personnel file,” the district said.
A 1990 graduate of Twin Falls High School, Teske began his career in education as a teacher at his alma mater in 1997. He later taught at Robert Stuart Junior High School (2000-04) before going to Oregon Trail Elementary School, where he became principal in 2006 after two years as vice principal.
In 2010, Teske returned to Robert Stuart as principal before going to Canyon Ridge three years later. He was named Principal of the Year in 2017 by the Idaho Association of Secondary School Principals, the highest statewide honor for a middle or high school principal in the state.
