A trio of shows, led by the HBO drama “Succession,” have dominated the 75th Emmy Awards. “Succession" won six awards, including best drama series. FX’s “The Bear” won best comedy and won several acting honors, while the Netflix limited series “Beef” won five trophies at Monday’s ceremony. “Beef” stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong made history for Asian American performers, while Quinta Brunson’s win for comedy was the first for a female Black actor in more than 40 years. The Emmys celebrated its 75th edition with numerous cast reunions and nostalgic cues throughout the night, with host Anthony Anderson and his mother keeping the show moving briskly toward an on-time ending.

Houthi rebels have fired a missile, striking a U.S.-owned ship just off the coast of Yemen in the Gulf of Aden. Monday's attack on the Gibraltar Eagle came less than a day after Yemen’s Houthi rebels fired an anti-ship cruise missile toward an American destroyer in the Red Sea. The Houthis later claimed the attack that further escalated tensions gripping the region after American-led strikes on the rebels. The rebel group's attacks have roiled global shipping, amid Israel’s war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, as they target a crucial corridor linking Asian and Mideast energy and cargo shipments to the Suez Canal onward to Europe.

Baker Mayfield threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns to lead the resurgent Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 32-9 wild-card playoff victory over Jalen Hurts and the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. Winners at Monday's Emmy Award ceremony included Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Jeremy Allen White from “The Bear” and Quinta Brunson from “Abbott Elementary." Jennifer Coolidge from “The White Lotus” and Matthew Macfadyen in “Succession” also won. “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” won as best scripted variety series and Niecy Nash-Betts for “Dahmer, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” Best reality competition went to “RuPaul’s Drag Race”and best talk show went to “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah.” And like the Golden Globes, Steven Yeun and Ali Wong won for best actor and actress in a limited series or TV movie for their work on “Beef.”

It’s another day of brutally cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills across much of the United States. Monday promised to deliver the coldest temperatures ever for Iowa’s presidential nominating contest and hold up air travelers yet again. It will also test the mettle of NFL fans in Buffalo for a playoff game that was delayed a day by wind-whipped snow. The National Weather Service says about 150 million Americans are under a wind chill warning or advisory for dangerous cold and wind as an Arctic air mass spills south and eastward across the U.S.

Josh Allen threw three touchdown passes and scored on a franchise playoff-record 52-yard touchdown run, and the Buffalo Bills beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-17 in an AFC wild-card playoff game that was postponed a day because of a lake-effect blizzard. Allen threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Khalil Shakir with 6:27 remaining that restored a two-touchdown lead for Buffalo.
