2023 Emmys Ties Record For The Most Wins By Actors Of Color

The 2023 Emmys made history with its most diverse outcome, as five out of the 12 acting awards went to actors of color, a first since 1991. Quinta Brunson and Ayo Edibiri won for Lead Actor in a Comedy and Supporting Actor in a Comedy series. This is the first time that two Black women have won these categories in the same year. Additionally, Steven Yeun and Ali Wong from 'Beef' won, with Wong becoming the first Asian woman to earn an Emmy for a lead role. Niecy Nash-Betts was the third Black actress to win an Emmy, winning as a supporting actress for 'Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story'. The Television Academy also honored GLAAD with its Governors Award for promoting diverse LGBTQ+ representation
